Is your forklift licence valid?

Old paper licences have been expired since 2008 – these have been replaced by a renewable, photographic licence card which shows the expiry date and the valid classes of high risk work i.e. LF.

These High Risk Work licences are valid for five years.  You can check online to confirm the status of your Queensland licence, however it will only return a result for workers who hold a current High Risk Work licence and those requiring renewal.

Another important note is to ensure your contact details are up to date – this way any renewal notices or changes to licencing requirements can be posted to your current address.  Note: not having your details up to date is actually a Work Health and Safety Regulation offence & could attract an individual fine.

All businesses should keep copies of employees licences, including Heavy Vehicle licences, on file & review periodically to ensure all licences remain valid.  Don’t rely on the expiry date on the copy of the card – you need to site the licence again and get a new copy – just in case the licence has been cancelled or suspended.
